What to Expect

A one-week program designed to provide teens with hands-on experience and insight into the fire service profession. Participants will learn fire safety, emergency response procedures, leadership, teamwork and basic lifesaving skills through interactive training, demonstrations and educational activities led by fire department personnel. This academy offers a unique opportunity for students to develop confidence, discipline, and a greater understanding of public service.

Eligibility & Requirements

• Open to Edinburg students (Public, Private, or Home Schooled).
• Open to participants between 13 and 17 years old.
• Free of charge.
• Students are expected to provide their own transportation.
• Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants are expected to attend all classes.
• Must be a resident of Edinburg
• 300-word essay (All essays will be reviewed for AI-generated content)
• Letter of recommendation
• Signed acknowledgment of academy rules
• Guardian signature on liability waiver
