Overview of Animal Care Services Division

The Edinburg Animal Care Services is where stray, surrendered or impounded animals found within the city limits of Edinburg are temporarily housed. Here, they are kept safe off the streets with a chance to be reclaimed by their owner or transferred to our contracted partner, Palm Valley Animal Society, where they may be adopted, rescued or fostered.

Lost or Found a Pet in Edinburg?

If you have lost or found a pet within the city limits of Edinburg, please contact Edinburg Animal Care Services at (956) 316-2185 or visit us during operating hours.

When a found animal is brought in, Animal Care Officers will scan the pet for a microchip and attempt to contact the registered owner using the information provided.

To assist with identification, please be prepared to provide:

  • A detailed description of the animal (breed, color, size, etc.)
  • Any unique markings or features
  • The location and time the pet was lost or found
  • A recent photo, if available

Please act promptly, as animals are held for a limited period before they may be transferred to our contracted partner facility.
