Overview of Human Resources
The Human Resources Department provides policy direction on human resource management matters and administrative support to all City departments to promote a fair and equitable workplace for City employees as they serve the community.
The department oversees recruitment efforts, including background screenings, new hire orientation, personnel record maintenance, and the grievance process. It also administers workers’ compensation, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), safety programs, employee benefits, and coordinates training for City employees.
Additionally, the department manages the civil service process for Police and Fire Department personnel, including administering entry-level and promotional examinations for civil service–protected employees.
The City of Edinburg is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, gender, age, disability, national origin, religion, marital status, or sexual orientation.
