Landfill / Disposal Services

Landfill Operations

The City of Edinburg Regional Landfill is happy to announce that a permit is no longer needed to utilize our facility. We have also changed our billing policy and will no longer bill against an account; all payments will be received upon disposal. Below is a breakdown of what is needed:

  • City Residents must provide a Texas driver’s license or ID with current city address and a current utility bill reflecting their name and mailing address. Residents in NAWSC and/or SWSC must show their DL/ID and current water bill showing City "Garbage Services" are being paid. All non-resident users will be charged the outside city rate.
  • Edinburg businesses do not qualify for the free disposal exception but must provide a current utility bill showing the business address is in Edinburg for in-City rates. All others will be charged the outside city rate.

All loads entering the Landfill must be weighed or measured and inspected before entry to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal material disposal laws. Upon entering, users should proceed to one of our two scale houses:

  • Right lane: public/non-commercial haulers
  • Left lane: City and City Approved Contract Haulers

All loads must be tarped and secured to prevent spillage. Unsecured or untarped loads will be assessed a 15% surcharge.

Staff will perform initial, random, or unannounced inspections to:

  • Ensure operational compliance and determine waste acceptability based on state and/or federal regulations
  • Identify potential or actual nuisance items
  • Review transportation logs and paperwork
  • Inspect for odor, vector, litter, and fire controls
  • Review unloading and compacting procedures
  • Check for prohibited materials

  • Drive onto the appropriate scale and inform the attendant of the materials being disposed of, especially if anything other than regular household trash is included.
  • Pick-up trucks hauling a trailer must enter 30 minutes before closing; 18-wheelers must enter before 2:30 p.m.
  • Dump waste only in the designated area as directed by the attendant.
  • Drive to the outbound scale to complete your transaction.
  • For City-approved Commercial Contract Haulers, billing is calculated using either your exit weight or stored tare weight.
  • City Residents and Public Users who have provided proof of residency complete their transaction upon disposal.
  • All incoming loads must be covered; prohibited materials include rocks, dirt, construction/demolition materials, or other non-household waste.
  • A current water bill is required for confirmation of residency or business address.
