Municipal Court
Overview of Municipal Court
The Edinburg Municipal Court has existed since 1926 and serves as the local justice center for the enforcement of local ordinances and fine-only state offenses that protect the peace and dignity of our community. The Municipal Court Judge is a public official responsible for presiding over trials and other court proceedings, performing magistrate functions, performing marriage ceremonies, and overseeing the general administration of the court.
The duties of the Municipal Court are pre-determined by the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and the Code of Judicial Conduct, in which court personnel shall provide equal and impartial justice under the law, as well as process each case efficiently without delay. In addition, it is the mission of the Court to provide an environment responsive to the needs of all persons who come in contact with the Court.
Mission
The mission of the Edinburg Municipal Court is to build public confidence by treating people with dignity and respect, being sensitive to their needs, and carrying out the administration of justice in an honest, timely, and professional manner.
