EDINBURG, TX –
In an effort to strengthen relationships with local business owners and safeguard the community, the Edinburg Police Department is launching a new program called “Business Watch.” Inspired by the success of the renowned Neighborhood Watch, this innovative initiative will extend its protective reach to encompass all organizations with a vested interest in Edinburg's thriving business landscape.

The "Business Watch" program introduces a transformative concept, elevating the traditional notion of "neighbors looking out for neighbors" to a commercial level. By forging a partnership between the local business community and Edinburg law enforcement, this program represents a new era of collective security and prosperity. By actively participating in this program, owners not only protect their own establishment but also contribute to the overall safety and well-being of the entire business community.

"We believe a secure community is built on strong partnerships between law enforcement and local businesses. Through the 'Business Watch' program, we aim to create a united front against crime, ensuring that our city remains a safe haven for commerce and prosperity,” Police Chief Jaime Ayala said. “We encourage all organizations with a business interest in Edinburg to join us in this collaborative effort and make a lasting impact."

In addition to reducing crime, Business Watch will also serve as an opportunity to offer employee training and education, network with other area businesses, and garner publicity and community goodwill for city establishments. Taking safety precautions is a critical component of the Business Watch model. Here are some key steps that businesses should take to fortify their property against burglary and other security threats:
