Human Resources - Civil Service
The purpose of the Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission is to secure an efficient police department composed of capable personnel who are free from political influence and who have permanent employment tenure as public servants. This was done by virtue of a municipal election held on May 5, 1990, establishing in the City of Edinburg, Texas, Civil Service for Police Officers, in compliance with Chapter 143, Municipal Civil Service Act, to become effective October 30, 1990.
Civil Service Commission List, Civil Service Benefits, Current Peace Officer Eligibility List, and information for applicants interested in applying for a Entry Level Position Patrol Officer position with the Edinburg Police Department may contact the Human Resources Department/Civil Service Division.
