  • Adjust chlorine and de-chlorination feed rates.

  • Collect samples from plant, lift stations, influent, effluent, and individual units.

  • Adjust flow and recirculation pumps and valves as needed.

  • Check aerobic digesters, decant, and waste into one (1) Belt Filter Press or twelve (12) sludge drying beds when necessary.

  • Unstop and prime pumps as needed.

  • Waste approximately 2,500,000 cubic feet of sludge from three (3) aerobic digesters, one (1) Orbal system, one (1) Aeration Basin, and two (2) Oxidation Ditches per year.

Goals and Objectives
  • Operate and maintain the Wastewater Treatment Facility so as to provide proper treatment of raw sewage waste as required by the EPA and TCEQ.

  • Comply with EPA and TCEQ rules and regulations for permit effluent requirements, plant operation and maintenance, laboratory testing and reporting, and sludge treatment and disposal.

  • Complete the expansion of the existing Orbal Plant to four (4.0) MGD to comply with the new permit effluent limits set by the TCEQ and the EPA while meeting increased treatment demands caused by the growth of the city.

  • Implement the Pre-Treatment Program to comply with the EPA and TCEQ Industrial Regulatory requirements.

  • Implement treatment at the Wastewater Treatment Plant to reduce odor and corrosion caused by hydrogen sulfide gas.

  • Implement a contractual wastewater bio-solids management and beneficial reuse program.

General Information

The Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at 1202 N. "M" Road and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year for the proper treatment of raw sewage waste.  The City owns and operates its own wastewater system.  The wastewater treatment plant is a combination of the conventional type and an oxidation ditch type with a total treatment capacity of 5.3 MGD with a permit capacity of 5.9 MGD.  The aeration tank treatment plant has a capacity of 1.9 MGD, and the oxidation ditch plant has a capacity of 1.4 MGD.  In July 1998, the City completed the construction of an expansion to its existing wastewater treatment plant, which consisted of an orbal biological treatment system with a capacity of 2.0 MGD aeration.  The City is currently in the design phase for the construction of an additional treatment capacity of 2.0 MGD.  The scope of work planned for the expansion includes the headworks with screening and de-gritting units, the addition of the 3rd outer ring to the Orbal unit, the addition of another clarifier to the Orbal plant, and a standby generator for the Orbal plant.  The City is currently in compliance with all state and federal permit requirements for the discharge of wastewater.
