Edinburg Police Department

The Edinburg Police Department is made up of more than 130 sworn officers covering approximately 37.5 miles of City and rural roadways. Edinburg PD has specialized units used to detect crime and enforce city and state laws within the jurisdiction. Specialized units include: SWAT, Gang Identification, Narcotics, Auto Theft, Community Oriented Police, Sex Offender, Traffic and Burglary.

Crime Stoppers is a great way for the community to help fight crime anonymously. This helpful police tool was created in 1976 in Albuquerque, New Mexico when a university student was killed during a gas station robbery. After six weeks of investigation and very few leads, detectives turned to the media for help. A re-enactment was taped and within 72-hours the case was solved. Today callers can earn a cash reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest and or conviction.
