Planning & Zoning

The City of Edinburg Planning and Zoning department is in place to ensure that the community develops in a safe, efficient and attractive manner. This is achieved through city regulations like Comprehensive Plan and the United Development Code.

The Planning and Zoning staff administers the review of development projects to ensure compliance with the city regulations, coordinates pre-submittal meetings and administers the zoning and platting process. They also prepare reports, present site data and recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council regarding rezoning, special use permits, and subdivision plats.

The Planning and Zoning department collaborates with Code Enforcement, Engineering, Utilities, Public Works, Fire and the Right-of-Way Department to achieve a greater Edinburg.

The City of Edinburg has received several prestigious awards for their on going efforts in planning and managing the future growth of Edinburg. Among those awards are:
