Edinburg Gateway Plan:
The City's 20 Year Vision for Growth and Development
City leaders and a citizens committee, with the guidance of Lane Kendig, Inc., spent the past year working on the Gateway Plan-An Agenda for 2025. This plan was adopted by the City Council on October 4, 2005. The Gateway Plan is intended to provide direction to City leaders, developers, investors and residents with regard to land use, community character, growth and development, transportation, economic growth, and utilities. Additionally, the Edinburg Parks and Recreation Master Plan was developed to establish the community's needs for improving the park system and facilitating park development. Both the Gateway Plan and the Edinburg Parks and Recreation Master Plan will replace the City's current Comprehensive Plan. With population growth anticipated to double in the next 20 years, the plan will ultimately provide a "gateway" to the future and create a community that the citizens will want to call home.

Municipal Annexation Plan

The Texas Local Government Code Section 43.052 requires a municipality to adopt a three year annexation plan before it annexes property. This requirement became effective December 31, 1999. The annexation plan may be amended to identify tracts for annexation on the third anniversary of the date the plan is amended. The annexation does not apply if the area contains fewer than 100 separate tracts of land on which one or more residential dwellings are located on each tract. The following represents the City of Edinburg annexation plans.
