EDINBURG, TEXAS (Feb. 28, 2018) – The City of Edinburg Municipal Court is extending its amnesty program for people with outstanding tickets. The reprieve allows people to pay their fines without being arrested. The City will waive all Class “C” arrest warrants and dismiss the failure to appear charge for those who take advantage of this program.

The program began Monday, Feb. 12 and is now extended to March 16. Originally, the program was set to last just two weeks.

Municipal Court Chief Marshal Raul Ramos says the court has more than 42,000 outstanding warrants that total more than $10 million. Those citations date all the way back to 2000.

Anyone with an outstanding ticket is encouraged to make a full payment or make arrangements with the court to pay their original fine amount through an installment method. The court is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Arrangements can only be made in person at the Edinburg Municipal Court located at 1702 S. Closner Boulevard. People only need to bring their driver’s license and a form of payment. The court accepts cash, credit cards, and money orders.

The court will be conducting a warrant round-up at the end of this amnesty period.

Those who want more information or to find out if they have an outstanding ticket can call the Warrant Division at 956-318-8819 or the Municipal Court at 956-289-7797.
