Planning & Zoning - Forest Useful Information

A good way to check whether your tree needs water is to use a simple 6”-8” long screwdriver. If the screwdriver goes in all 8” easily (around the outer ‘drip’ edge of the branch spread into and outwards a few feet), the tree doesn’t need water. The article at the following link describes how to apply water using a hand held hose, a 5 gallon bucket, a soaker hose, sprinkler, etc. With the garden hose you water until the water starts running off, then keep checking with the screwdriver only until it goes in easily all 8”. This simple trick done and checked every week or 2 can make all the difference in your tree’s survival.
