Census 2010 Its In Our Hands!
The U.S. Census Bureau is issuing a call to action for every resident of Edinburg to be counted in 2010! The 2010 Census is approaching and it is up to us to make sure that our count is accurate.

- A count of every person living in the United States.
- Mandate of the United States Constitution to be conducted every 10 years.

- Shortest questionnaire in Census history, only 10 questions
- Will take about 10 minutes tcomplete
- Will benefit the next 10 years
- Census data directly affects how $400 billion per year in federal and state funding is allocated
- Answers are protected by law and strictly confidential
- Information collected is for statistical purposes only and is NOT shared with any other local, state, or federal agency
Filling out your Census form is critical to reducing the risk of Edinburg communities being undercounted. A complete count is in our hands!

- Determine how many seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives.
- Local government decision-making
- Analyzing local trends Planning schools, day care centers, clinics, hospitals
- Forecasting future transportation
- Building roads, housing developments
- Education programs, parks, health – care services, and much more

- March 8-10: Households will receive postcards announcing that the 2010 Census questionnaire will arrive the following week.
- March 15-17: The questionnaire will be mailed to households.
Edinburg City Hall and Sekula Memorial Library will be assisting with the questionnaire.
- April 1-10: Replacement questionnaires will be mailed to households.
- April 22-24: Reminder postcards will be mailed to households.
- May 1 to July 10: Census workers will visit homes of non-responders to follow up with them.(Source: U.S. Census Bureau)
- You can complete the 10 questions in 10 minutes and return it by mail by April 1, 2010.
