Edinburg All-America City
The City of Edinburg has been honored with the All-America City Award three times, in 1968, 1995 and most recently in 2000 making it the 18th city in the 51 year history of the award to be honored three times. Edinburg continues to work toward solving the problems of its community and to upholding the standards of this prestigious award.
In 1894, one hundred educators, journalist, business leaders, and policy makers met in Philadelphia and founded the National Civic League. Their focus was to encourage citizens and local governments to work together to identify and solve community problems.
The NCL formed the All-America City Award in 1949 to recognize 10 cities a year that have effectively solved the challenges of their community.
